nourishment takes work

originally published on instagram

been trying to get back to regular cooking again after a long hiatus. i guess the relationship between exercise and nutrition is tightly intertwined, so it seems like a matter of time that i have to pay more attention to nutrition if i want to exercise better. bodybuilders eat chicken, broccoli and rice for every meal, so i can cook at least a couple of meals per week right? since i love eating so much i have to cook food that resembles the food i love to eat outside else i’ll never sustain this.

today i cooked my own rendition of the jajang noodle but with konjac noodles instead. it is more of the chinese version than the korean version. i’d found myself feeling less frustrated and rushed during the cooking process, constantly trying to remind myself to be mindful, and to try to thrive in the stillness that cooking can bring.

nourishment in any form, takes work. and most of the time i refuse to do the work until something compels me otherwise.
