small meaningful things

i’m just as strange as you

came across this quote on twitter and it was attributed to Frida Kahlo:

“I used to think I was the strangest person in the world but then I thought there are so many people in the world, there must be someone just like me who feels bizarre and flawed in the same ways I do. I would imagine her, and imagine that she must be out there thinking of me, too. Well, I hope that if you are out there and read this and know that, yes, it’s true I’m here, and I’m just as strange as you.”

I related to it very much and wanted to post it here so did some googling. Turns out it has been erroneously attributed, and it originated from a canadian teenager instead.

It even inspired a comic from zenpencils who erroneously thought it was from Frida Kahlo too. I thought it was quite apt that a quote about relating to someone’s strangeness came to have a wild life on its own on the internet: a medium that brings the strangeness of strangers together.
