can making art keep me alive?

originally published on instagram sketchbook spread of food consumed at merci marcel: pizza, salad, panna cotta and sesame latte

there’s a new study going around saying that covid may cause low serotinin levels. I cannot help but wonder if this is the reason for my lowish mood, or have i always been in a lowish mood? at such times it is difficult to remember that there have been brighter days.

i post my art despite my mood, but my captions reflect my mood. i think it should be this way – at least for me my postings have always been influenced by my state. will i be able to convince myself that making something every day will be enough to keep me alive?

i wonder if anyone reads these little notes i write here.

thank you for stopping by again. I think I have to keep remembering ultimately I myself am still looking despite not many are looking, and my ability to look back at my own writing matters. However, feedback like yours makes such a tangible difference and impact to me. 🙂
